Your Appointment
In my experience, new patients can find visiting an osteopath a rather daunting process, but I like to make sure that an appointment with me is as straightforward and relaxing as possible. I will ensure you have clear directions to find me, and you will be able to park right outside on my private drive. One of the biggest concerns is what to wear – I would recommend leggings or sports shorts and a vest.
An initial appointment will include talking through your case history which includes details such as your medical history, any accidents and your symptoms. Details of your medication is always useful to bring.
I then do a thorough physical assessment which might involve gait analysis and some simple movements, and if necessary medical and neurological screening.
I will then treat you using whichever techniques I believe will give you the best results. You will always be treated on your first appointment, unless I have detected an underlying issue that might need medical attention first, or if I believe Osteopathy would not be suitable for you.
To get the most out of the treatment, I will prescribe you specific exercises or give you advice on how to manage your complaint.
